TagSet

TagSet

A Tag element is a general navigation and project organisation aid. Tags may be applied to most model element types from the main edit page for the element; clicking on a tag link brings up a page listing all elements "tagged" by that tag. The tags applied to an element are usually displayed as tag links under the element name (page title) on the element's main view page.

A Tag is always owned by a TagSet. This enables users to organise tags in meaningful groups. An example of a tag set might be 'project stages', with tags for 'inception', 'design', 'construction', 'operation', and 'disposal'. On a building project, one might have a 'building layers' tag set with tags for 'plumbing', 'electrical', 'hvac', 'structural', 'interiors', and 'mechanical'.

Users may optionally choose to display the tag sets and tags for the currently selected project in the sidebar in GreenDesk. Please see the options under the My Account settings.

A TagSet element always belongs to a single Project and its owned Tags can only be applied to elements from within the same project.

Authorised users can create new tag sets via the Create menu, or via the button at the top of the tag set listing page.

Power tag creation

The easiest way to create multiple tags within a given tag set is to Edit the tag set. There is a large freestyle text field where users can simply enter many comma-separated tag names; on Save many tags are then created automatically.

Only tags with unique names within a given tag set can be created. Most punctuation (such as brackets) is permitted within tags, except for commas ','.

Beware creating too many tags; they are extremely useful project organisation and navigation aids, but creating many thousands of them can impact on page loading performance !
